Cut-price sale
An iconic piece of retro Las Vegas property is up for sale again, with its owner knocking over 50% off the 2019 asking price of $18m.
According to reports, entrepreneur-owner of The Underground House, Frankie Lewis, has listed the property for sale at $8.5m.
Las Vegas Locally took to X with images of the luxury underground nuclear bomb shelter on Spencer Street:
The New York Post cited Lewis as stating the property, which also comes with an above-surface mansion: âwas likely one of the largest single-family luxury bunkers in the world.â
Built in 1974, the houseâs kitschy âJetsonsâ style is according to reports âa darling of filmmakers and television producers looking for a retro set piece.â
Time capsule
The ownerâs LinkedIn profile describes the fully furnished, 16,000 sq ft bunker mansion. She said it sits 23 ft underground and âaccommodates private events, films/movie sets, fashion photo shoots, corporate parties, wedding receptions, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and small group historical tours.â
According to the Post, despite listing the mansion for sale, Lewis maintained her goal was âto preserve the vision of Jerry and Mary Hendersonâ who built the shelter âas the final home of their lives.â
openness and serenity of a private estateâ
Listing representative for the house, Holly Erker, summed up the bunker as âan underground time capsuleâ with the âopenness and serenity of a private estate.â
Marketing pivot
Lewis also pitched the property as âa cultural landmark and one of the most unique survival residences in the world.â
With Priceâs marketing now targeting commercial opportunities and over 50% off, the houseâs proximity to the Strip makes it ripe for conversion into a luxury rental, event space, or museum.
